WOW! St. John’s did a great job representing Newfoundland at the AFF this fall. Down to the Dirt’s Anna Petras and Justin Simms arrived home from the Atlantic Film Festival in Halifax, Nova Scotia with the award for the Best Atlantic Feature! Congratulations !! The prize for the Best Atlantic Short resides in St. John’s as well and went to Jordan Canning and Jody Richardson for their film Bedroom. Hooray! Well done everyone you make us proud!

It’s really buzzing in the office at 155 Water Street this week! Today a press conference was held at NIFCO announcing the Program and Workshops offered by the 19th Annual St. John’s Women’s International Film Festival! Exciting stuff – we’re lucky to be opening with the award winning Down to the Dirt! We’re really hoping Joel Hynes, Novelist/lead actor and Sherry White Co-screenwriter will be in attendance!

The Board had a fun job watching all those films but it got tough when it came time to make the decisions about what gets screened. Board member, Leslie Vyrenhoek, blogs about the task here at Cahoots. They did a great job though – the line-up looks fantastic!! Hats off to Mary Lewis and Lori Clarke for creating the trailer for the film festival. Check it out! Speaking of trailers… how is yours coming along?!
