So, how'd the party go? What's the news? Send stories, gossip. Anything.
I read the thread on the ink canada facebook group that that new girl, Eileen started. The Facebook link is crazy long so here's a tinyurl I made for it from that free site tinyurl.com that is especially for shrinking long crazy urls.
And look, that Karen Walton - le grand chef des enfants terribles - has all ready responded. She's so nice. And look again, she's going to be in Halifax this upcoming weekend giving a workshop at the Atlantic Filmmakers Co-op!
Karen Walton Workshop in Halifax
Halifax. Why that's right next door! How can we convince her to come on by for a cup of tea - it' just a a short 17 hours drive and ferry ride away. Karen, you have to come on over.
I am really excited about the Readings Series idea - where we can get together and have our work read out loud. What a great idea - I can see that really helping. First of all you get to see your words and dialogue performed, so that you can see if it's working and if you are engaging the audience. Second, what a great motivator. Third - fun times.
I'm going to start writing now.
I Can't Make it to the 48th Ink Moovy Groovy Night - I'm sick.
Can you believe it? So not not not fair.
Have a great time and make sure to let me know how it goes. I'll be here with Charlie.
That’s the sound of the St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival's staff going mad with last minute details! Long days and even longer nights have gone into creating a fantastic program and planning for an impressive opening night gala! Hope to see you there – make sure when you pick up the program – the week looks awesome!
Something came up this morning when we were getting ready to post the trailers from the moovy.ca contest – one of the trailers contains original lyrics to the music from a popular song. The person who made the trailer asked us to wait – hold off until they researched the legalities of this situation. Have any of you ever encountered that situation?? Comment and let us know how you handled it.
Oh and thanks to the wonderful folks at Bell Canada / Down East Mobility – they donated cell phones to the festival! I got the one with the camera!! I’m going to post pictures from the festival – silly ones. I hope you do too!
I feel an apology is in order. How quickly promises fade. I promised in my last entry, and indeed the winter queens of moovy.ca guaranteed, a regular blog chronicling my travels across this autumnal land. But my last post is dated September 8! Almost two weeks ago!
Well, even beavers and bees would have to concede that I’ve been busy indeed. Since we last spoke, I’ve brought the magic of Films On The Go to Stephenville, Corner Brook, Grand Falls-Windsor, Gander, Eastport and now Clarenville. Yeah, get around more than the Beach Boys. Audience reaction? They want more of me of my slate of films made by women for the masses and can you blame them?
Best meal so far? Moose pie at Earle’s Restaurant.
Best sleep? Comfort Inn in Gander. I think I slept on both the X and Y axis of that thing and didn’t have any feet sticking out action.
If you see me, please offer me a home-cooked meal and let me know that you love me. This life on the road ain’t that glamourous.
