The CFC Worldwide Short Film Festival (WSFF) ranks as North America's largest short film festival and market, and is widely acknowledged as a global leader in the exhibition and promotion of short films. Held in mid-June in Toronto, the WSFF celebrates the very best in short films with expert programmers who focus on quality and creative range, as well as the design of audience-pleasing programs to present a thoughtfully and thoroughly gathered selection of around 250 short films over six exciting days. WSFF also programs a monthly screening series in Toronto, as well as an annual cross-Canada tour.
The WSFF offers one of the largest prize packages around, at over $80,000 CAD. Accredited by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, WSFF winners are eligible for Academy Award nomination (Best Live Action Short and Best Animated Short) and Canadian winners are also eligible for Genie Award nomination. In fact, the WSFF has helped launch 19 Oscar Nominees (4 winners), 17 Genie Nominees (6 winners), and 6 British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards Nominees (2 winners).
